CID Sergeant Jack Kelly retires after 56 years of law enforcement service

After more than five decades of dedicated service, Delaware County District Attorney’s Office

Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Sergeant Jack Kelly of Aston will be officially retiring from the force on August 31, 2018.

Sergeant Kelly began his 56-year law enforcement career at the age of 23, when he joined the Military Police Corps, the law enforcement branch of the United States Army. As a Military Police Officer (MP), he served his country for three years, including serving a tour in Korea. In 1966, he was sworn in as a police officer for the Radnor Township Police Department where he served for 27 years. Sergeant Kelly joined the Delaware County Delaware County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division in 1992, and during his 26 years, he rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as the head of the CID Child Abuse Unit where he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and protection of children in Delaware County.

“On behalf of the District Attorney’s Office, we wish Sergeant Kelly all the best in his well-deserved retirement after 56 years of dedicated service to the residents of Delaware County,” said District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland. “As one of hardest working, upstanding and committed investigators I know, Sergeant Kelly will be greatly missed, and there is no question that his years of dedicated service have made Delaware County a safer place to live, work and raise a family.”
