DA Whelan announce Anti-Violence Task Force
District Attorney Jack Whelan, CID Chief Joseph Ryan and scores of Public and Community Leaders joined forces to announce the creation of the DA's Anti-Violence Task Force. DA Whelan has appointed Assistant District Attorney George Dawson to serve as Chief of the Unit. DA Whelan also announced that Pennsylvania State Police will be adding extra patrols by up to nine unmarked and marked cars in Chester. The extra shifts will be paid for by private donations from area businesses, including Widener University, the Philadelphia Union, and Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Chester Mayor John Linder has join in along with Chief Joseph Ryan and his Detectives from the DA's Criminal Investigation Division to target high crime areas of Chester.
