2007 Shred Fest

On Saturday May 19, 2007, Delaware County District Attorney Mike Green hosted the first annual “Great American Shredding Event” at Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence Delaware County.

NBC10 co-sponsored the community education and crime prevention event.  Iron Mountain, the Records and Information Management Company, provided the shredders, staff and a truck.

Mike hosted the event to help prevent Identity Theft. Identity Theft is the fastest growing non-violent crime in the United States. It affects more than one million individuals each year.

Shredding important papers and documents lessens the chance of becoming a victim by more than 50%. Over one thousand people attended the event.  Iron Mountain hauled away twenty-two tons of safely shredded documents.
