G. Michael Green, District Attorney

On August, 12 2002, G. Michael Green was appointed by the Board of Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County to fill the unexpired term of the late Patricia Napp Holsten, and in November 2003, Mr. Green was elected to a four year term which began in January 2004.  During 2003, Mr. Green developed a strategy to integrate emerging technology in the daily activity of Delaware County Law Enforcement.  By the conclusion of 2003, the Justice Network (J-NET) had been both installed and implemented in every Delaware County Law Enforcement Agency.  During 2004, Mr. Green sought and obtained funding to establish digital based booking centers throughout the County.  Today, as a result of this effort, every defendant booked within Delaware County is fingerprinted and photographed digitally through Live Scan and CPIN.  At present, Mr. Green is leading an effort to integrate each of these technologies into a Law Enforcement Database Network, which when complete will permit Delaware County Law Enforcement Agencies nationwide access in real time to available law enforcement identifying information through a shared law enforcement intranet.

Among Mr. Green’s major accomplishments in office are the establishment of the One Plan Strategy for Safe Schools in Delaware County, which is designed to incorporate each critical interdiction, response and recovery stakeholder in a comprehensive strategy for school and public safety.  He created the Senior Exploitation Unit to protect Delaware County seniors from physical, sexual and economic criminal exploitation.  He established the Special Victims and Domestic Violence Division inside the District Attorney’s Office which is designed to protect children, women and other at-risk persons from all manner of physical, sexual and internet driven violence and other crime. Mr. Green created the Juvenile Accountability Coordinators Program (JAC-Program), which establishes a permanent inter-agency facility to promote safe schools and to manage juvenile violence throughout Delaware County.  Finally, Mr. Green implemented an innovative approach to the problems of domestic violence and mentally ill offenders with the introduction of the Mental Health Liaison Prosecutor position within the District Attorney’s Office.

During 2006, Mr. Green was awarded the William G. Widener Memorial Award by the Delaware County Police Chiefs Association honoring him as the outstanding law enforcement official for Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, presented Mr. Green a Certificate of Merit in recognition of his outstanding service at Sector Delaware Bay, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  In December 2006, Mr. Green and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) – Pennsylvania operating within the Office of the District Attorney of Delaware County were honored with a site visit by Senior United States Justice Department Officials. This site visit was in recognition of the extraordinary success Mr. Green and the ICAC – Pennsylvania Task Force have had in the investigation and prosecution of child predators who attempt to harm children in Pennsylvania utilizing the internet.

Mr. Green is a graduate of Villanova University and the Villanova University School of Law.  Before his appointment in August 2002, Mr. Green was a respected practicing attorney, having practiced law in Delaware County for over twenty years.  A native of Delaware County, Mr. Green resides in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby Township with his wife, Mary Beth, and their four children.
